Popular Korean drama “Athena” had a live event that took place on January 7th at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. On an episode of jTBC’s “Girls’ Generation and the Dangerous Boys” to be aired on January 8th, the results from a therapy session for the “Dangerous Boys” were revealed. Upon hearing the results, Girls’ Generation requested a consult for themselves as well.
After watching a video clip of the boys during their therapy sessions and hearing the results, the members were surprised at the clear analysis of the “Dangerous Boys”. Girls’ Generation then held one of their own with Chief Kang Yongwon of the Korean Psychological Counseling Center, who had also run the boys’ therapy session.

On a recent recording of jTBC‘s ‘SNSD and the Dangerous Boys‘, the girls surprised producers by requesting to sit with a psychology counselor for themselves.
The episode focused on having their ‘dangerous’ students talk about their problems and receive help through a counselor. The girls watched over the process on video and later met with the counselor themselves to see what they can do as mentors to help.

In this episode, Hyoyeon took up the mission of cleaning and getting the barn ready for the animals. During the recent filming, Hyoyeon built a barn from scratch. Girls’ Generation are on their way to break the 1 million copies mark for the sales of a single album in Japan.
As of January 5th, 1st Japanese album ‘Girls’ Generation’ which was released in June 2011, recorded sales of 680,000 copies, according to Oricon.
After being labeled as a ‘Double Platinum’ album for selling more than 500,000 copies, the sales of ‘Girls’ Genearation’ has been increasing at a consistent rate since the release of the repackaged album on December 28th, 2011 which includes remixes of ‘Mr. Taxi’, ‘The Boys (Japanese version)’ and new song, ‘Time Machine’. With the current rate of sales in Japan, it is just a matter of time before the girls’ very first Japanese album surpasses the 1 million copies mark.
Meanwhile, up till now,’Asia’s Star’ BoA is the only Korean artist who has ‘Million-certified’ albums in Japan. Boa’s 2nd Japanese album ‘Valenti’ which was released in January 2003 recorded sales of 1.24 million copies while her ‘Best of Soul’ album released in February 2005 sold 1.09 million copies.

Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon was recently seen leaving Korea through Gimpo International Airport for the KBS 2TV drama “Athena” concert in Japan on the morning of January 6th.
“Athena: Goddess of War” debuted in Japan on November 30th. Taeyeon had sung the title song for the OST for “Athena”, called “I Love You”, and will be performing it at a special event to help promote the drama.
Especially notable in the picture taken of Taeyeon at the airport is the huge stuffed toy she is seen carrying, called “dukong”. On the episode of KBS2 Invincible Youth 2 that is to be aired on January 7th, the G8 receive a mission in preparations to welcome animals into their family. They are supposed to clean out the village cow shed and build a new one.
For their latest filming, Hyoyeon was very worried that she has to build a shed from scratch, but during construction, she soaked up what the village adults taught her like a sponge. According to the production crew, the fellow G8 members complimented (at the same time poking fun at) Hyoyeon’s unexpected skills by saying, “You work surprisingly well.” In response to this, Hyoyeon said, “I always worked hard, and I was always an extremely great worker, but people just never noticed.” Hyoyeon got excited and worked especially hard when others complimented her, acting like a “choding”(child). Even when she she hit her hand with the hammer, she apparently went and hammered down all the nails for the shed once she heard “you’re good at hammering.”

Girls’ Generation’s much anticipated US special album has been made available for pre-order on Amazon and Best Buy.
The album costs $11.99 and will be released January 17th. Girls’ Generation’s US record label, Interscope, had previously stated that the album will contain the remixes from the girls’ digital EP(available on iTunes) that was released on December 20th, as well as a selection of songs from the original Korean album “The Boys”.
Hype for Girls’ Generation’s album has already started, with the remix of “The Boys” featuring Snoop Dogg being played on a Boston radio station, as well as the group being featured on JustJared’s Music Monday on KIIS-FM.

Girls’ Generation members Jessica and Yuri are busy studying up on how to become a great actress.
The two girls will be trying their hand at acting for the very first time, and have been receiving acting guidance and advice from a veteran actor.
A representative from their agency SM Entertainment remarked, “An experienced veteran is teaching the girls the very basics of acting every rookie should know – character analysis, vocalization, and breathing. The other singers trying their hand at acting also learn the basics, and Jessica and Yuri are no exception. The girls are working hard as to not disappoint their fans.”
Girls’ Generation promotions for their third full-length album came to a close in December of 2011, and the girls will be focusing on individual promotions for the beginning of 2012, giving Jessica and Yuri a chance to develop themselves as actresses.
Yuri has been cast as the female lead ‘Anna’ in the new SBS drama, ‘Fashion King‘ due to air in March, while fellow member Jessica has also been cast as actor Lee Dong Wook‘s past lover in KBS 2TV‘s ‘Violent Romance‘ which is scheduled to air sometime this April.
It’s the current trend in the entertainment industry for idol singers to make their debut on the small-screen, and Jessica and Yuri are jumping on the same bandwagon.
