SNSD’s “The Boys” is ranked on iTunes chart for the first time

Girl group SNSD is ranked on America’s iTunes chart.

On December 20, SNSD’s “The Boys,” which was released through Interscope Records, an American record label owned by Universal Music Group, is ranked 122th on America’s iTunes chart for the first time.

It was first time for SNSD to release an English song in American market. After the English version of “The Boys,” which was included in its third Korean album released in October, ranking 74th on iTunes single chart, SNSD was ranked on iTunes again.

Since the group hasn’t promoted its song in America, its ranking on iTunes is known to be an exceptional case. Nowadays Americans find K-pop very attractive especially its popular, stylish songs and group dance. So it is expected to draw much attention if SNSD debuts in America.

Producers are the ones with big influences in America, which is known to be the world’s biggest market of pop songs. SNSD will attract more attention with the participation of Teddy Riley, the producer of the late Michael Jackson and “The Boys,” and a high-profile hip-hop musician Snoop Dog.

In SNSD’s maxi single released in America includes eight different versions of “The Boys.”

It includes an English version which is rearranged in a slower tempo, a club remix, and a cappella version. A famous DJ from Boston, Clinton Sparks and Snoop Dog featured on remix as rappers.

SNSD plans to perform follow-up songs in Korea with “Mr. Taxi” until the end of the year. In addition to domestic performances, the group will appear at Japanese biggest annual pop festival, NHK Red and White Song Battle on December 31.
