While many are whining for the end of their weekends or dreading the start of Monday blues, December 5th is a significant date for a group of people, and especially for you and me, who are reading this now.
Why is December 5th a special date? The day is special to SONEs everywhere as it marks the 23rd birthday (or 22nd in Western age) of our very own Kwon Yuri!
From the girl who appeared shy and demure during Girls’ Generation’s debut with ‘Into the New World’ four years ago, Yuri has since blossomed into a confident and breathtakingly gorgeous young woman.
Her charms and beauty were showcased in various performances and magazine spreads over the years. And who can forget the resident sexy member of Girls’ Generation, who constantly tops body-related polls and surveys (think hot abs, S-lines and bikini bods!).
If you search for Yuri in Youtube or search engines, the related-phrases that appear are usually along the lines of dance, sexy, dorky and funny. However contradicting it is, the sexy birthday girl is also known for her dorky, goofy and fun-loving sides (not forgetting her cute sleeping habits!). Once known as a prankster, the members of Girls’ Generation have fallen victims to her pranks numerous times. Also, who can forget her dorky acts, on and off stage, which often make her members speechless?
The health enthusiast is a frequent gym-goer and she is also acknowledged as one of the most athletic members of Girls’ Generation by the rest of the girls. Along with maknae Seohyun, the duo are pretty much the best ambassadors of healthy eating and living in the group.
Besides that, Yuri’s appearance in the first season of KBS’s ‘Invincible Youth’ also left a great impression in the mind of viewers and SONEs. Beyond the hilarious yoga lessons (remember the shocking lion pose?), Yuri was also chosen as one of the most sought-after daughter-in-law!
The younger of two siblings was revealed by her childhood friends on SBS’s Dalgona to be a cute vain girl since she was little, where she would pay extra attention to her appearance and practice making pretty expressions in front of mirrors at home. I guess the extra efforts put into the appearances paid off as Yuri is now part of the top Asian girl group!
Other than being a singer, dancer and model, Yuri is also hosting MBC’s Music Core and other special events with Tiffany, forming the much-loved MC YulTi team. Also, it was a pleasant surprise when we saw Yuri’s name on the list of composers and lyricists in the Hoot mini album last year, where she penned the lyrics for ‘Mistake’, a beautiful ballad which touched our hearts.
Despite having such packed schedules, Yuri still squeezes time out of her busy days to attend class with Sooyoung and live the life of a student. Good example of where there’s a will, there’s a way, right?
Having just turned 23 today, Yuri and the rest of Girls’ Generation are well on their way of world domination, having spread the pink ocean to most corners of the globe.
Here’s to hoping that Yuri will have an awesome birthday with lots of love and celebrations from family, friends and members on this lovely day.

1. When I was allowed by my dad to ride a bike, the tip of my toe got caught in the bike and I hurt my leg.

1. My memory of running around and playing on the beach in front of our house.

Hyoyeon:
1. When I was around five to six years old, my family would definitely go visit this nearby park 2-3 times a week., but if we had a little more time, we would even go to a place further away and my family had a lot of fun making good food to eat and playing around. Anyways, there a lot of pictures taken from back then, so any time I look at the pictures, I’ll remember those memories.
2. Ummm, this is the most difficult question, it might seem cool, but maybe it’s really more of a subtle personality? (laughs)
3. My smile ^^, eyes? Or my mouth when I laugh (laughs)
4. Toothbrush set, iPad, hand cream

Yoona:
1. A memory of when I ate ice cream and my baby tooth fell out.
2. Hmm…I have many faces (laughs). I can’t say for myself… What kind of personality do you think I have? ^^

1. A memory of when I was three years old, because I was shorter than the dresser and I was curious what was on top of it, so I tiptoed to see above it.

Sunny:
1. As a kid I was too quiet at home, so I remember that when my parents found me, I said ‘drink lots’, while putting water in the telephone receiver with a spoon. It was fun watching the red telephone gulping down water. (laughs)
