On December 30th, Girls’ Generation attended KBS “Gayo Daechukje”, the end of the year show for the network.
In the introduction of all the artists, which resembled entries of teams at a sporting event, Girls’ Generation came out first, dressed in the black and silver outfits they wore during their Christmas special. All of the artists had large banners with their names on them, and Girls’ Generation had a ribbon on theirs representing the girls’ award from the Korea Pop Culture Awards.
Later during the show, Girls’ Generation performed the song “Festival” as part of a medley of performances honoring the songs of Uhm Jung Hwa. The girls were bright and cute with shorts and white t-shirts, reminiscent of their “Gee” days. Fans clearly loved the happy performance, as “SNSD – Festival” trended second worldwide on Twitter.
Having already shown they can pull off a cute performance with ease, they dialed up the sexiness with their performance of “The Boys”. The girls started all sitting down in wedding style dresses, but then as the music started they got up and tore the bottoms off to reveal sexy white outfits. They went straight into a remixed dance intro that caught everyone’s attention before they settled into “The Boys”.

Hyoyeon’s tears poured out during a recent recording for “Girls’ Generation and the Dangerous Boys”.
On December 30th, a jTBC representative revealed that Hyoyeon participated in an art therapy program for the problem youths in “Girls’ Generation and the Dangerous Boys”.
The representative commented, “Girls’ Generation and the dangerous boys earnestly participated in the art therapy session. Hyoyeon in particular shocked the other members and the crew when she suddenly burst into tears while she was drawing.”
“Hyoyeon left the recording for a moment to clear her mind and soon returned to continue recording. However, when the art therapy expert was analyzing Hyoyeon’s drawing she burst into tears once again, causing the people surrounding her to be disconcerted.”
The reason behind Hyoyeon’s tears will be revealed on the next episode of “Girls’ Generation and the Dangerous Boys”, which airs next year, January 1st.

On December 29th, Girls’ Generation performed at SBS Gayo Daejun, with Yoona serving as MC alongside Lee Seunggi and Song Jihyo. They started off the whole show with “Technologic”, in which Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny and Tiffany made their appearance via a diamond-shaped box in the center of the stage. They then danced to “Technologic” on center stage with sexy choreography to boot. After that, Girls’ Generation and Super Junior danced together to the song, “Moves Like a Jagger” for the opening stage. A few stages after the opening, K.Will and Tiffany performed a duet song, “A Whole New World”. Artists from SM Entertainment then performed together on stage like an orchestra with the song “The Sound of Hallyu”, with Seohyun playing the piano and Tiffany playing the flute.
Tiffany played “Swan Lake” with her flute during her solo, while Jessica, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung and Yuri danced along to a remix of “Swan Lake”. The next stage was Taeyeon singing “Devil’s Cry”, which was performed during the 2nd Asia Tour, but this stage was different as Changmin from TVXQ joined in to sing it with Taeyeon. Then, it was Girls’ Generation’s turn to take the stage for the second part of “Hallyu Queens”. Girls’ Generation performed a remix of “The Boys”, with a different set of choreography for this remix which gave it a unique flavor. Yoona made a brief appearance during Lee Seunggi’s stage by conversing with Lee Seunggi on stage. On December 29th, Tiffany and Yuri were presented with a special award in the MC category at the MBC Entertainment Awards.
Tiffany and Yuri have been extremely popular MC’s on “Show! Music Core”, and they were specially recognized for their talent.
They said, “Thank you for all the staff who work with us since the early mornings for one hour of broadcasting.” They then listed every one of the staff members’ names and also said, “We are happy just being able to watch the seniors and juniors every week.”
Fans immediately reacted with excitement over the news with “MC YulTi” trending worldwide on Twitter in 7th place.

Hyoyeon of Girls’ Generation cried a flood of tears during a recent recording for ‘Girls’ Generation and the Dangerous Boys‘.
A JTBC representative revealed that Hyoyeon participated in an art therapy treatment with the troubled male students to gain insight on their innermost thoughts and psyches.
The representative stated, “Girls’ Generation and the dangerous boys participated sincerely in an art therapy session. Hyoyeon especially became quite invested; while drawing her picture, she started crying and shocked not only her fellow group members, but the crew as well.” G
The representative added, “During the recording, Hyoyeon left to collect herself, but once the art therapist started analyzing her picture, she started crying again, which perplexed those on set“.

Bugs, a Korean music site, recently announced the winners of the “Bugs 2011 Music Awards”.
On December 28th, Bugs released the results for the Bugs 2011 Music Awards. Girls’ Generation won in two categories, “Best Female Group” and “Tap Sonic Best Play” for “Gee”.
Voting was opened on 8th, and for two weeks until the 22nd, fans were allowed to vote once a day for their favorite artist in each category. Girls’ Generation was nominated for several categories, including “Netizens’ Popularity Award”, “Best Female Group” and “Tap Sonic Best Play”.
Congratulations to Girls’ Generation for winning yet another award in 2011.

Behind-the-scenes footage of the filming for Girls’ Generation’s “FreeStyle Sports” CF has just recently released. In the video, Yoona is seen laughing as she is filmed running, while Sooyoung threw sand into the air and donned a pair of goalie gloves. Finally, Jessica and Hyoyeon are shown playing basketball, where Jessica even managed to score a basket. All the members could be seen smiling and having fun as they posed for photos and videos. The video ends with a trailer of the CF.

The members’ flowing gowns commanded everyone’s attention as they posed for a brief photo shoot before the awards show. Girls’ Generation’s popularity continues onto KakaoTalk.
Girls’ Generation recently formed a partnership with KakaoTalk’s “Plus Friend” service. “Plus Friend”, hosted by KakaoTalk Inc., is a service where users can add artists, brands, magazines, and other services to their friends lists and receive related information quickly and easily through KakaoTalk.
“Girls’ Generation Plus Friend”, which opened on December 28th, recorded 211,038 friends on December 29th. This makes Girls’ Generation the fastest star in the history of “Plus Friend” to have had over 200,000 users add them to their friend list.
KakaoTalk users are expected to show high interest in “Plus Friend” as users can receive content concerning Girls’ Generation’s concert info, recent news, video clips, and pictures live through the “Girls’ Generation Plus Friend” service.
In addition, signed CDs and posters will be given to five randomly selected users who join the service between December 28th and January 11th. Prize winners will be announced on January 18th.

Earlier in the month we reported that the ladies of Girls’ Generation would be releasing their special Japanese repackage of their latest album, “The Boys“ and the album has been released.
The album contains 15 tracks in all, including remixes of ‘The Great Escape‘ (Brian Lee Remix), ‘BAD GIRL‘ (featuring DEV and remixed by The Cataracs), and ‘Mr. Taxi‘ (Steve Aoki Remix).
Additionally, a brand new track named ‘Time Machine‘ was also included in this repackaged album.

Girls’ Generation’s ‘The Boys’ music video is the most shared music video on Facebook this year.
On December 28th, social music service platform, Muzalive revealed that out of 89,450 Kpop music video links shared on Facebook this year (from January 1st to December 24th, 2011), Girls’ Generation’s ‘The Boys’ music video was shared 959 times, more than any other Kpop music videos.
Super Junior’s ‘Mr.Simple’ which was shared 379 times, came in 2nd while Sistar 19′s ‘Ma Boy’ came in 3rd (shared 329 times). Besides ‘The Boys’, Girls’ Generation’s 2009 hit song ‘Gee’ was also within the top 5 where it was shared 200 times (5th).

The social music venture company, Muse Alive, compiled 89,459 K-Pop music video links that were shared on Facebook and found that “The Boys” was shared the most for a total of 959 times. Gee was shared 200 times and came in fifth. Girls’ Generation had the most music videos shared among Korean artists, taking an impressive eleven of the top fifty spots.
“The Boys” music video has proved to be a success in 2011, reaching a total of 25 million views two months after its release on SMTOWN’s Youtube channel. Gee, the song that arguably propelled Girls’ Generation to the top of the music industry, is still maintaining its popularity among fans, having just passed sixty million views on Youtube.

Under Interscope Records, SNSD will be reading to knock on the doors of the European market with a special album release of ‘The Boys‘!
On January 17th, 2012, the girls will be releasing a special album in the United States, Canada, France, and England featuring songs from their third album, as well as Korean, English and remix versions of ‘The Boys’.
